What Infinity Does
Your bow never consumes normal arrows — a single arrow in your inventory is enough to shoot forever. Tipped and spectral arrows are still consumed.
Tip: Infinity cannot share a bow with Mending. Pick Infinity if you hate crafting arrows, Mending if you want the bow to last forever — most players pick Infinity.
Using Infinity Well
Infinity removes arrow logistics entirely for normal arrows: keep one in your inventory and shoot forever. Two limits matter: tipped and spectral arrows are still consumed, and the bow itself still wears out — which is the catch, since Mending cannot repair an Infinity bow. When it eventually breaks, craft and re-enchant a new one.
The famous either-or: Infinity means never crafting arrows, Mending means never losing the bow. They are mutually exclusive. Casual play favors Infinity; a maxed-out god bow you want to keep forever favors Mending plus an arrow farm.
Infinity Version History
Java Edition Beta 1.9 (2011): Added with the original enchanting system.
Bedrock Edition: Infinity works the same in Bedrock Edition, including the Mending conflict and the tipped-arrow exception.
Infinity FAQ
What is the enchantment ID for Infinity?
The enchantment ID for Infinity is minecraft:infinity. Java Edition 1.13+ commands such as /enchant use this namespaced form. On Java 1.12.2 and earlier the numerical ID was 51.
What is the max level of Infinity?
Infinity goes up to level I (level 1). Run /enchant @p minecraft:infinity 1 while holding a valid item to apply the maximum level.
Does Infinity work with tipped arrows?
No. Tipped and spectral arrows are consumed as normal — Infinity only covers plain arrows.
Why can't I have Infinity and Mending?
They are mutually exclusive by design: unlimited arrows plus infinite durability would make the bow completely maintenance-free.
Do I need any arrows for Infinity to work?
Yes — exactly one plain arrow must sit somewhere in your inventory. It is never consumed.
