How to Get Diamond
Diamonds drop from diamond ore mined with an iron pickaxe or better—one per block, or up to 4 with Fortune III. You can also smelt diamond ore, uncraft a block of diamond into 9 gems, or find them in chests in mineshafts, buried treasure, shipwrecks, villages, bastions, and trial chamber vaults.
- Mine diamond ore below Y=16—ideally around Y=-53—with an iron pickaxe or better.
- Each ore drops 1 diamond; a Fortune III pickaxe averages over 2 per block.
- Uncraft a block of diamond into 9 gems when you need to spend your storage.
