Jab attacks with a spear propel you forward horizontally in the direction you are looking. Higher levels lunge further, but each lunge costs hunger and saturation.
Tip: Level your view perfectly horizontal for maximum distance — looking up or down shortens the lunge. Keep an eye on your hunger bar: Lunge refuses to work below 6 hunger points.
Lunge turns the spear's jab into a mobility tool: burst forward to close a gap in PvP, dodge sideways out of a creeper blast, or chain lunges across flat ground faster than sprinting. The cost is hunger — every lunge drains saturation and hunger depending on level, and below 6 hunger points (3 shanks) it stops working entirely, so carry food if you plan to lunge-spam.
