How to Get Gold Ore
Gold Ore requires an iron pickaxe or better—anything weaker breaks it with no drop. It generates from Y=-64 to Y=32, most common around Y=-16, and an extra batch generates between Y=32 and Y=256 in badlands biomes, making badlands the richest gold source. Each block drops 1 raw gold; Fortune I–III raises it to up to 4, and Silk Touch drops the block itself.
- Dig below Y=32—Y=-16 has the highest density—or mine the surface gold veins of a badlands biome.
- Bring an iron pickaxe or better; lower tiers destroy the ore with no drop.
- Smelt the raw gold drops into gold ingots at a furnace or blast furnace.
